Subi's 16's go down by a point
- Tuesday, 26 March 2013
The 16’s have kicked off their season with an agonising one point loss at the hands of West Perth on Saturday.
The Lions youngsters were ferociously competitive for a majority of the game but fell at the last hurdle.
Coach John Batten was impressed with his side’s performance but admits his side were out muscled at points in the game, something the side is set on working on.
“West Perth were a little bit more physical and showed a bit more resolve at times, which is something we definitely need to work on for next week.
We also need to have a look at our consistency with disposal and intensity”

It was also the first hit out with the newly appointed leadership group with midfielder Thomas Lowndes leading his side out for the first time as Captain.
Batten is happy with how Lowndes and vice captains Ethan Burnett, Liam Tedesco and Dylan Campbell stood up to the challenge as leaders; stating they were appointed for a reason.
“I didn’t think they would have any problem standing up to the challenge of leading a football squad. They’re all very good footballers but they’re also very good kids. They talk to their peers with an air of respect and are good ambassadors for the footy club.”
The young 16’s will now direct their attention to a Easter Friday with East Perth this weekend.
