SUBIACO LIONS vs. PERTH DEMONS
Medibank Stadium Kick-Off: 9:10 AM
The third placed Lions have set their eyes on a travelling Perth Demons outfit for this Saturday’s round nine clash at Medibank Stadium.
With a side fresh from the State Week bye, the Lions will be looking to inflict more damage on the Colts competition to record their fifth win of the season.
Although the bye may have halted some of the Lions winning momentum, their hardworking midfield will look to keep the bowl rolling in the clearance game, boosted by the return of hard-nosed centre Mitchell Turner.
Mitch Turner hasn’t played a game in 2013 due to a foot injury, but will don the maroon and gold against the Demons on Saturday to get his season underway.
BARR’S GAME CHANGERS
Key player Cody Grace has had a moderate start to 2013 but is visibly gaining momentum. The game-changer has kicked five goals in his last two games, but his role as a leading half forward is more integral to the team. Has a great mark overhead and is crucial in the link up play between the midfield and the forwards. Look for Grace to work his way up the ground to aid the midfielders on Saturday against the Demons

ACCURACY THE KEY
A bit of research this week led me to find that the Lions Colts are currently the most accurate kicking side in the competition with a completion rate of 61%. This is 10% higher than any of the other top four sides and is crucial in taking advantage of ball dominance. Michael Wood and Rhys McAlister have been excellent in 2013 for the Lions with 39 goals between them in six games. They will look to take advantage of a young Demons defence on Saturday who rank third last in points conceded.
JACKSON THE SENIOR
A big congratulations to our Colts captain Declan Jackson who has been selected to play for Subiaco’s Reserves side against the Demons. A stellar start to 2013 sees Jackson awarded with his first game of senior football to play amongst a host of his 2012 Colts team-mates.
LAST TIME THEY MET
The Colts will be looking to break the trend against a Perth Demons Colts side which won both meetings between the two sides last year. Only seven players remain from the Lions side which went by 20 points against the Demons last June so it will be a completely different ball-game.
