Battle of the top four

This week the Colts face fourth placed South Fremantle as they look to rebound from their 49 point blow against Claremont last week.

The Lions took the points last time the sides faced with Subi proving the classier side in Round Five; but the side which will run out at Medibank this weekend will be very different from earlier in the year.

The coaches are giving our youth a good run with the absence of some senior players and last week they stood up; matching Claremont in all performance indicators; only to be beaten by a composure.

BARR’S GAME CHANGERS
KALGOORLIE KIDS
After a long delay; Kalgoorlie 18 year old Joe Scafidi will play his first game for the Lions against the Bulldogs this week. The utility will join a host of other Kalgoorlie sourced players including Cody Grace, Mitchell Turner, Anthony Champion and Hayden Kennedy who have contributed to Subiaco’s hot start in 2013.

RUCK RECONNAISSANCE
A key contributor in the ruck, Aidan Ietto, will return to the side this week to sure up the Lions ruck stocks. Ietto has taken the main role since Jordan Bestry’s relocation and has taken it with both hands. The 193 centimetre prospect has a lot of room to grow; but is full of potential.

STRUCTURES
A major factor that let the Lions down in their loss to Claremont was their structures and entries into the forward line. Albeit missing some key transition players; the Lions weren’t happy with their forward entries and will hope the return of key forward Ryan Vermeersch will re-invigorate some of their early season prowess.
