The Colts will travel to West Perth this week as they challenge the Falcons at Arena Joondalup.
The third placed Lions should enter the match as resounding favourites, after belting the Swan Districts by 86 points last week at Medibank Stadium.
They also face a youthful West Perth outfit who are going through a re-generation stage; only winning three games in 2013 as they blood a host of upcoming players.
BARR’S GAME CHANGERS:
When Kalgoorlie founded footballer Liam Ellis was brought to the Subiaco Football club he was a proven forward, claiming the Goldfields leading goal-kicker honours with 63 in the 2012 season. Since he’s been with the Lions; he’s fought hard to earn his spot in the side; playing bit by bit until hitting his straps as a half-back. An eye-catching 22 disposal game against the Swans last week saw Ellis finish in the bests column for the Lions; and it probably won’t be the last time as he grows into the system
WIN THE CLEARANCES, WIN THE GAME:
When Subiaco’s key midfielders fire, the entire team fires.
Andrew Vawser, Connor Wilkinson, Max Walters, Antoine Garlett and Joe Scaffidi are the five main drivers of Subiaco’s clearance game. If they can get the jump on West Perth early in Saturday’s match then the game will weigh in Subiaco’s favour.
The Lions defensive midfielders will also have to keep a close eye on the Falcons Blake Acres; who put on a brilliant display against East Fremantle last week to record 31 disposals and kick two goals.
LAST TIME THEY MET :
The Colts met the Falcons in their first game of 2013; A Friday night show-starter at Medibank Stadium.
The home-side turned it on with a 79 point white wash in front of a loyal home crowd as the Lions go their season off to the perfect start. Michael Wood and Rhys McAlister put on a goal kicking clinic kicking 12 goals between them as Subi won every quarter.
They’ll hope to reciprocate the result of their round two clash this week at Arena Joondalup; Kick Off 9:10
