Lark Medalist Sidelined
- Thursday, 04 July 2013
Subiaco's midfield has been dealt a blow with young gun Dom Sheed ruled out for 6 weeks with a broken collarbone.
The 18 year-old sustained the injury in the dying stages of WA’s stirring win over Victoria Country at the national Under 18’s carnival in Melbourne.
Captain of WA , Sheed starred in the match, collecting 29 disposals and kicked 4 goals to be named best on ground.
It was just one of a string of stand-out performances in black and gold by the Kalgoorlie product, he averaged 28 disposals and was awarded the Lark medal as the best division one player during the carnival.
The injury comes at a bad time for the Subiaco Lions who are looking to make a tilt towards the WAFL finals, starting against East Fremantle at Medibank Stadium.

The Lions were comprehensively outplayed by East Fremantle when the two teams met in round 4, losing by 69 points.
Despite coming off a bye, Subiaco's playing stocks have taken a hit. Two key players will be missing from the side that lost to West Perth by a point two weeks ago. A wrist injury has ended Mark Nicoski’s season while Chris Deluca is suffering from a back complaint.
The Sharks got to within one kick of beating reigning premiers Claremont in Kununurra last week, a result that wasn’t lost on coach Steve Malaxos. The Sharks will head to Medibank Stadium brimming with confidence against the seventh placed Lions.
East Freo’s Ryan Lester-Smith can no longer count on flying under the radar of opposition clubs, the spearhead has booted 12 goals in his last four WAFL outings including a bag of five against the Tigers.
