Lions Head to Kalgoorlie
- Thursday, 23 January 2014
WAFL football will return to the Goldfields this season when the Subiaco Lions host Perth Football Club at Sir Richard Moore Oval on the 14th of June.
The round 12-fixture will be the first WAFL match played in Kalgoorlie since almost four thousand spectators watched Subiaco demolish Peel Thunder by 157 points at Digger Daws Oval in 2008.
Season 2014 begins with a series of staggered bounce down times for Subiaco starting with the season opener, a twilight home game against South Fremantle scheduled to start at 4:05pm.
Round 3 sees a 12:30pm bounce down against Claremont at East Fremantle Oval. The Tigers have been forced to find new venues for home games this season as Claremont Oval undergoes redevelopment. The Claremont Show Grounds is where the two teams will meet again in round 10.
On Good Friday (18th of April) the Lions will take on East Perth at Medibank Stadium. Another bumper crowd is expected for the traditional show-down which will get under way at 4:05pm
The Lions play the AFL aligned clubs four times in total (East Perth in rounds 5 and 19 and Peel Thunder in rounds 4 and 14).
