Colts win four on the trot

The Subiaco Colts have recorded their fourth straight win with an 80-point win over East Perth at Medibank Stadium.

Subi’s back six were magnificent in the encounter to only concede ten scoring shots in over 80 minutes of football.

Key defender and captain Brennan Pearce was pleased with his back six and their ability to spread the ball.

“We were determined to only concede three scoring shots a quarter and we worked well to keep it in our hands and deliver it well to the outside. “ said Pearce

The newly appointed leader was influential of the half back line and insists his young side are starting to gel after their fourth win.

“We started of rusty in 2014 but after the Subi camp we started gelling and were playing as a team now which is pleasing.”

“We stuck to our structures against East Perth and played all four quarters compared to the last couple of weeks where we’ve only played half so pretty happy with the boys.”

Key forward Cody Grace was also a standout in the Royal demolition with seven goals as a deep forward.

Grace has overcome a back injury that kept him on the sidelines last year and looks poised to take his game to the next level in 2014.

Subiaco had a handful of WA State 18 reps return to the side against East Perth and the influx of experience led the Colts to their best game of the season. The Lions disposal and movement was far superior to the Royals efforts with returning stars Greg Clark, Adam Creeper, Max Walters, Cody Grace, Connor Wilkinson providing influential performances

Cody Grace was at his formidable best against East Perth with a performance that would send shock waves through Colts defenders. The young key forward was dominant in the air and on the ground to notch up his biggest tally of seven goals as a Lion. If Grace can stay fit and build on his game in 2014 anything is possible for the 17 year old.

The Subiaco Colts have a well drilled back six who play for each other and East Perth found that out the hard way. Lead by Brennan Pearce at half back the Subiaco rebound was deadly in the matchup often releasing pacey wingers Aaron Summers and Greg Clark on damaging runs. Corey Buscall returned to a deep defender role and was brilliant in aerial contests. The Hooper brothers were smart with the football and Jay Allison-Green continued to provide a cool head in his second Colts game. The Royals had to wait until the second half to record their first major against the silky Lions defence.
