Subi stumble, but stay alive

Subiaco will now look towards an elimination final with East Fremantle after being dashed in the second semi by 32 points against East Perth.

A dominant third quarter took the game away from the Lions before the Royals clinically shut the game down in the last.

The Lions lacked their usual spark in the forward line and were held to their second goal-less first quarter of the season.

Veteran midfielder Jason Bristow was galliant with a best on ground performance whilst Victorian recruit Lachlan Delahunty looked close to being at his best with 18 touches.

Matt Boland was the most lively forward for the Lions but only managed two on a wet and blustery day at Medibank Stadium

The Royals high caliber defence managed to keep Subiaco under ten goals in a low scoring battle.

Despite losing Subiaco can use the loss as a performance to grow on as they utilize their second chance against East Fremantle at Medibank Stadium next weekend.

GAME CHANGERS

SIEZING START:
Subiaco will be regretting the way they started their semi final against East Perth with inaccurate kicking and poor disposal leaving them behind from the first break. The Lions will need more out of their mid ranged forwards with Shane Yarran, Chris Deluca, Rhys Waters and Aliston Pickett all having quiet days. The possible return of George Hampson would also be very handy.

TWOMEY TURNS IT UP:
There’s no doubting the valuable experience that defender Wayde Twomey injects into the Subiaco side. The roaming halfback was excellent in the second half in an attempt to narrow the margin down. Unfortunately for Twomy Subiaco couldn’t only convert seven majors on a windy day against the Royals.

SHEED’S FORM BOOST:
Most of us remember Dominic Sheed as the talented Kalgoorlie youngster who was a feature of our league side in 2013. Sheed’s selection by the West Coast Eagles with pick number 11 in the 2013 AFL Draft sent the silky midfielder to East Perth and he was up for a performance against his old side. Sheed gathered 25 disposals and a goal.
