Horsley's number one

Subiaco kicked the season off with a bang at Domain Stadium with over 200 attending the season launch

The Lions unveiled their 62 man playing squad, which will compete in the 2015 WAFL Premiership season.

One of the more notable changes over the pre-season was captain Kyal Horsley’s move to number #1; a tradition which the club are hoping to introduce.

“We’re starting a new tradition this year were the captain will don the number #1 jersey and will continue into the future. With the retirement of Jason Bristow last year the jersey became available so our captain Kyal Horsley will wear it in 2015.” – Football Operations Manager Luke Sanders.

The opening night dinner was also used to introduce two new Lions coaches with Shane Paap and Sean Wrigley absorbing the reserves and colts head jobs.

Paap was the line coach for the premiership winning league team last year and Wrigley joins the coaches after extended experience with the State 18’s.

Coaches Jarrad Schofield (league) Shane Paap (reserves) and Sean Wrigley (Colts) with FOM Luke Sanders

Schofield made a point to emphasise that the coaches play an important part through every step of developing Subiaco’s footballers.

“From the start with Sean Wrigley to Shane Paap and to the end with me, we work at developing these players so they can represent the Subiaco Football Club to the best of their abilities. We want players to be ready for the next step.”
