Lions Buzz: Round Eight

Subiaco answered any questions of their calibre with a 60 point demolition of Peel at Bendigo Bank Stadium on the weekend.

Second placed Peel were the league quick-starts by winning their first four games but didn't have enough to run with a hungry Lions outfit.

Shane Yarran was unstoppable against the Thunder kicking six goals on a picturesque Bendigo Bank Stadium deck. Brady Gray, Ethan Hughes and Joshua Bootsma all had cracks at the WAFL leading goal-kicker but couldn't slow him down on the way to six.

Subi were also boosted by the inclusions of Chris Deluca, Michael Wood and Kyle Halligan who provided the Lions signature forward pressure. Deluca kicked a goal with his first kick since the 2014 premiership and young forwards Wood and Halligan were exemplary in their roles.

Peel had the late ommitions of Connor Blakely and Jon Griffin to Fremantle duties, but still had a team loaded with AFL talent including ex-Essendon sniper Leroy Jetta. Subiaco managed to out-class a quality Peel outfit however, making it 39 wins from 45 encounters against the Mandurah side.
