Bringing the Spirit

Subi always bring a little bit of extra energy at home games and that could be thanks to the Vivace Performance Company.

Shona Horton owns and runs the local dance school and attributes the relationship to a strong, historic connection with the Subiaco Football Club.

"My dad Ken Horton is on the past players committee and we’ve been members of the club since we moved to Perth in 1977 so it was great to establish a connection that benefits both parties,

"Around the 2000’s we organised to have a group of the girls perform at Subiaco’s home games and it’s stuck around since." said Horton

Vivace has been flourishing over the last decade and offers performance opportunities including game day shows at Medibank Stadium.

"I scouted the Vivace Performance company in 1999 and started operating the business. Over the last 15 years it’s blossomed and we have around 400 dancers participating at the school,

"The performances at Medibank Stadium offer a great opportunity for the girls to regularly perform and get together. They all come from academic backgrounds so it’s good to get out of the studies and focus on the dancing for a little while." added Horton

Subi's cheerleading group come from a wide range of performing and some are looking to further their opportunities in the arts.

"Some of the girls are already at WAAPA and some are looking to further themselves in dancing and performing. A couple are doing their PHD’s, one’s a radiologist and most are studying so its a pretty unique group,

"We’re happy to provide the performances and it will hopefully continue to open up opportunities in the future for the girls." added Horton
