SFC 2015: Finals Week One

Subiaco’s reserves will play first in September with a Qualifying Final against Swan Districts on Sunday 11:25am at Medibank Stadium.

Subi are out to atone for their 2014 Grand Final loss to the Falcons and will look to get off a blistering start against the Swans. With the Lions having a first Round bye in the league competition it could also allow some senior players to generate form.

The Lions finished second on the ladder in the reserves competition, which gives them a double chance; win against the Swans and go through to a Semi Final vs South Freo.

Lose and the twos will play against the winner of the elimination final between West Perth and East Perth

FINALS ELIGIBILITY:
Any Subiaco player can be eligible for the reserves finals due to the fact both senior sides have made the finals.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The Swans got on top last time the two sides met under turbulent weather at Steel Blue Oval. Swan Districts managed 6.10 (46) on the day to hold off the waterlogged Lions 4.12 (36). With a sunny 18 degrees predicted for Sunday this should be a very different game.

FINDING FORM
Subiaco could utlise the unique situation to play some of their under done players into form. The likes of Reece Blechynden, James Garcia and Aaron Heal could benefit from the finals experience.

BALANCE AROUND GOALS
The reserves have had a proven host of goal-kickers in 2015 with Jeremy Woodley, James Garcia, Raymond Daniels, Dylan Clarke and Sean Bradley contributing bags throughout the season. Swan Districts will struggle to contain the versatile Lions attack.
