Outridge Medal 2015

Chris Phelan has rounded out a monumental year with his first Outridge Medal for Subiaco’s best and fairest.

The top five place-getters, Phelan, Leigh Kitchin, Clancy Wheeler, Jordan Lockyer & Scott Hancock played every game in 2015 but Phelan’s strong finish separating him from the rest.

The Kingsley product averaged 24 disposals a game and stood as the key extractor for the Lions on the way to premiership 13.

Phelan also added 14 goals in 2015 as he developed a repertoire for a cool head in the forward line.

The club champion title rounds out a big year for Chris Phelan who represented WA for the first time and won his second WAFL premiership a month ago.
Victorian recruit Leigh Kitchin came second in the count after an exciting debut season for the Lions.
The rover averaged 23 disposals a game and was selected alongside Phelan in the 2015 WA State Squad.

Esperance product Clancy Wheeler finished third, halfback Jordan Lockyer fourth and winger Scott Hancock fifth.

Shane Yarran was acknowledged for his impressive season to become the first Subiaco player of indigenous heritage to claim the Austin Robertson Goal-kicking Award with 54. Yarran is expected to attract interest from the AFL in the upcoming draft.
Kalgoorlie youngster Hayden Kennedy was awarded the Barron Rising Star Award after a strong season in the back-line. Kennedy was brought into the side in Round Four and never relinquished his spot. The Mines Rovers product grew incrementally off the back-line in 2015.

Defender Charlie Le Fanu claimed the Newton Screaigh Memorial Award whilst Matt Panizza was acknowledged as the Best Clubman after spending a season on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Hard hitting midfielder Joel Ashman won the Blakemore Medal for the fairest and best reserves player. Ashman played 21 games for the reserves in 2015 including all three finals.
