PREVIEW: Round Two (2017) vs Perth

Subiaco will look to regain some confidence against Perth this weekend at Leederville Oval.

The Lions were jumped by South Fremantle in Round One and have the perfect opportunity to reload against the young Demons.

There was a lot to like about Subi’s game in Round One but consistency will be the key. Forward entries will be a big focus after a host of missed opportunities against South Fremantle. The Lions pulled within 21 before running out of gas in the last quarter.

Perth started their 2017 season in sensational style, kicking eight goals in the first quarter against Swan Districts. The Demons exuberant start was dimmed with only three goals after quarter time. The Swans got on top by 12 points.

The Lions will be forced into changes with Hayden Kennedy aggravating a shoulder against South Fremantle. Kennedy did a brilliant job on Corey Dell-Olio but left the ground late in the game.

Captain Kyal Horsley was also a late miss for the South Freo game and could be a chance to return against Perth. A host of experienced players such as Adam Cockie, Brad Stevenson & Ben Sokol built fitness in the reserves in Round One and could also be possible inclusions.

GAME CHANGERS

DEMON DAY

Perth were one of the four teams to defeat first-placed Subiaco last year, albeit in torrid conditions. The Demons got over Subi at Lathlain Park by 15 points in torrential weather.

DOUBTS ON TROPIANO

2015 Sandover Medalist Aidan Tropiano is under an injury cloud in Round Two and will leave the already young Demons even more exposed if he’s absent.  Clint Jones (27 disposals), Brant Colledge (21 disposals) and Michael Sinclair (25 disposals) did their best against the Swans in Round One but they were obliterated in the overall disposals tally (388 – 283).

LEEDERVILLE LOCKDOWN

This will be the 15th time these two sides have met at Leederville Oval and Subiaco have a comprehensive advantage. The Lions have claimed 12 wins from 15 games against Perth at Leederville Oval since the relocation in 2004.
