Subi hope to play part in WA history

Six Lions are a chance to represent West Australia against Victoria in the state fixture this Saturday.

Kyal Horsley, Leigh Kitchin, Jordan Lockyer, Clancy Wheeler, Lachlan Delahunty & Corey Adamson make up an experienced contingent vying for state honours.
The squad of 27 will train at Claremont Showgrounds tonight to determine the structure of a WA side hoping to beat the big V for the first time in Melbourne.

Football manager Daniel Vidovich is delighted with the large contingent of Subiaco footballers considered for the interstate venture.
“It’s great reward for effort for the players that have been working hard over the last 10 rounds and pre-season, very deserved for all of the boys selected.
Corey Adamson and Lachlan Delahunty were late additions based upon their last month of form.
“Their last month of footy has been outstanding. Corey off half back and Dela in the ruck. They both had really good games against South Freo in Round 9; Adamson was best on ground and I’m pretty sure Delahunty was wasn’t far behind him and it was after that game they were included.” Said Vidovich
Chris Phelan and Gus Litherland were unavailable due to injury and star forward Liam Ryan will be rested due to soreness. All three were probable selections for the state team until the rigours of the WAFL season took their toll.
“We had three miss out through injury as well and that’s really unlucky. Gus broke his arm, Phelan injured his knee on the weekend and Liam has pulled up a bit sore so we easily could have had a bigger influence. “added Vidovich
Vidovich opened up on the reasons to rest the young star Ryan despite state coach Michael Broadbridge indicating his importance to the WA cause.
“He has some sore spots as you would expect; but it’s in his and our best interest to rest him as a precautionary measure.”
“He’s 20 years old, so we’re focussed on getting his body right so he is able to have a big second half to the year. He’s a tough kid and endured a lot of physical attention this season, so we have to do the right thing by him.” Said Vidovich
