GOLDS Focus on Goldfields

Wednesday, April 25, 2018 - 8:01 PM

Subiaco’s most recent April GOLDS meeting had a strong focus on one of the proud regional cities of the Subiaco region, with Kalgoorlie taking centre stage for GOLDS.

Each month the GOLDS monthly meeting includes the opportunity for new players to introduce themselves to the GOLDS group with a short history of their football background and then are quizzed on matters relating to the club.

The GOLDS also have a player of the month award with the monthly winner represented and recognised on this night.

In April the players attending were former Goldfields players in Kyal Horsley hailing from Kalgoorlie Football Club, Hayden Kennedy from Mines Rovers as well as Ryan Borchet and Jacob Miller from Railways.

Along with 2018 debutants Borchet and Miller was fellow debutant Nick Menegola.

Each player gave great insight into their football journey from their proud history in the Goldfields through to now representing the Subiaco Football Club.

As well in the April meeting, Subiaco Talent Manager Michael Farmer was a guest speaker and updated GOLDS members on the change to the Colts Competition this year.

Whilst the competiton is centrally administered by the WAFC, Farmer reassured members that the Colts program remains an integral part of the ongoing growth of the Subiaco Football Club and the Colts team continues to embrace its identity as a proud Subiaco Lions team.

The current success of the Subiaco Colts and 16’s was acknowledged by Farmer as the club continues to remain optimistic about the 2018 chances of the entire Subiaco Colts team.

GOLDS have a dinner meeting in combination with the Subiaco Ladies Forum on the 1st Tuesday of each month with a different meal, guest speaker and players for each event.

It remains one of the highlights of the month for GOLD members with each month proving to be a both entertaining and informative evening for all attendees.

Subiaco members are welcome to attend GOLD meetings as a guest to enjoy the in depth club atmosphere that comes from the GOLDS evening proceedings.
