Beau Wardman Becomes Subiaco League Coach

The Subiaco Football Club is delighted to announce that premiership winning Colts Coach Beau Wardman has been appointed as the next league coach of the Subiaco Football Club, replacing outgoing league coach Jarrad Schofield.

Wardman who has coached the Subiaco Colts for the past two seasons was the standout candidate to replace Schofield, who has taken a coaching role with Port Adelaide at AFL level.

Wardman has been one of the key architects behind the transformation of Subiaco’s talent program, taking the Subiaco Colts team from last to premiers within two years.

The appointment as Subiaco League Coach is a fitting reward for Wardman who has built strong relationships internally at the Subiaco Football Club in the past two years and has been a popular figure within the club’s talent program.

The proven ability that Beau has shown to build relationships with young footballers and his ability to lead a high performing program were key reasons behind his appointment.

For Wardman he is looking forward to the challenge of being Subiaco League Coach.

“To take over from the legacy Jarrad leaves is exciting,” Wardman said.

“We have a great group of players in the senior program who have the right values and work ethic for success and I will look to build on this culture and continue our on-field success.”

Wardman inherits a talented squad made up of a group of experienced veterans and a group of aspiring young WAFL footballers who will be the backbone of Subiaco’s future success.

With this core group of young players the backbone of Subiaco’s back to back Reserves premierships in 2017 and 2018, Wardman is well placed to help facilitate the development and transition of young players on the list.

“The club is really well positioned with a mix of experience and some quality talent coming through our pathways over the last few years,” Wardman said.

“The sustained success of the club is going to be dependent on us transitioning some of these players through and gaining experience with our senior players.”

It will be a swift transition for Wardman as he looks to his first senior pre-season which is due to commence at the end of next month.

“The pre-season will come around quickly, with all three teams having finished on the last day of the season,” Wardman said.

“I will catch up with our coaching group as quickly as possible to start our planning and most importantly build on the relationships with our playing group.”

“We have a great family culture at the club and it will be important to build on that.”
