Broadhurst & Ferguson newest Life Members

The Subiaco Football Club is delighted to announce that following this week’s Annual General Meeting, two more popular club figures have had their application for life membership approved.

Two time premiership player Blake Broadhurst and long time head trainer Tanya Ferguson were announced at Wednesday night’s AGM as the newest additions to the exclusive life membership group.

A hard working and accurate goal kicking forward, Broadhurst played 142 games with Subiaco between 2004 and 2012, finishing his career with 319 goals, the seventh most in history of any Subiaco player.

Broadhurst notably played in four straight premeirships for Subiaco, as he was part of the league premierships of 2006 and 2008 as well as the reserves premierships of 2005 and 2007

On top of his goal kicking and premiership achievements Broadhurst is one of only two Subiaco players, 2018 Game Ball Legend Brian Taylor being the other one, to win fairest and best awards with the colts, reserves and league.

Broadhurst was the Taylor Medal winner in 2003, Blakemore Medal winner in 2004 before taking out the Outridge Medal in 2010.

That 2010 season began a three season run where Broadhurst was the main focal point of the Subiaco side kicking 161 goals between 2010 and 2012.

He claimed three straight Austin Robertson Jnr club goal kicking crowns, plus in 2011 was the Bernie Naylor Medalist as the leading goal kicker for the entire WAFL competition, with Broadhurst also representing WA in 2008.

This long list of achievements are unsurpassed by any of the recent greats of the Subiaco Football Club, with Broadhurst one of the unheralded greats of Subiaco’s golden era.

Ferguson meanwhile joins a select group as female members to earn Subiaco Life Membership.

She has been a mainstay of the Subiaco Football Club training team, with 13 years of head training experience at the club.

Ferguson was head trainer of the colts between 2006 and 2007 before becoming the head trainer of the senior squad in 2008, a role that she has held through to 2018.

Her strong work ethic, ability to build strong relationships with both the playing group and training staff, has meant that Ferguson has been an important and instrumental figure over a decade of success for the club.

Consistently going beyond her role, Ferguson has been a regular feature at Subiaco training sessions and games for the past 15 years, playing a key role in keeping Subiaco players fit and able to play to their best abilities.

Both Broadhurst and Ferguson will receive their life membership badge at next year’s Life Membership Night where they will be officially welcomed into Subiaco’s Life Membership.
