Not So Super
- Saturday, 20 July 2013
Subiaco has suffered one of it’s worst losses for season 2013 going down by 39 points during the WAFL colt’s ‘Super Round’ at Brownes Stadium.
East Fremantle’s midfielders controlled the game from the outset and while Subiaco improved in the second half, their inaccuracy once again cost them any hope of getting back into the game.
The result was the reverse of what happened two weeks ago when the Lion’s midfielder overpowered East Freo’s.
In a positive sign for the Lions tall forward Jordan Bestry provided his mids with a marking option inside fifty and finished the game with three goals.
Josh Deluca was again Subi’s most prolific ball winner finishing with 18 kicks, 2 handballs and 8 inside fifties.
Ryan Vermeersch had a subpar game by his standards, only touching the ball 5 times.
The margin could have been greater if not for some superb defensive efforts from skipper Declan Jackson. Sharks key forward John Marsh is the competitions best forward and is expected to be drafted into the AFL next year.
Jackson held him to just 1 behind.
Jo Scaffidi delivered his best game in Subiaco colours. The Goldfields product has battled Ostietis Pubis for the better part of the last 18 months.
The teenager appears to be over the worst of it and gathered 18 disposals and 3 inside fifities.
Coach Steve Armstrong has urged his fourth placed side to bounce back quickly. Subi’s attention now turns to the ladder leaders Claremont and a massive challenge that will go a long way to deciding their finals fate.
