SFC 2015: Round Nine Preview

Subiaco welcome Swan Districts to Medibank Stadium this weekend with the intentions of staying on top of the ladder.

The Lions will be gunning for a comprehensive win over the 2014 semi-finalists who are seeking momentum after a slow start.

The Lions have won six of the first seven in their premiership defence and look the team to beat after the first quarter of the season. They’re averaging 95 points a game, the highest in the league, thanks to a dangerous attack spear-headed by WAFL leading goal kicker Shane Yarran.

Swan Districts have been un-predictable in 2015 and sit on the precipice of finals positions with a record of 3-4. After starting with a big win over Perth, the Swans have struggled for consistency including an 11-point meltdown against last placed Claremont last week.

Swan Districts won’t be taken lightly however, with memories of their Round 7 romp remaining in Subi minds. The Swans handed the Lions their biggest defeat of 2014 with a 43-point belting at Medibank Stadium.

GAME CHANGERS

MEMBERS APPRECIATION DAY

Subiaco are welcoming members, fans and families of the club to visit Medibank Stadium for game-day this weekend to celebrate the people that make the club. Members Appreciation Day is an initiative established this year and is focused on acknowledging the Subi faithful.

NEW HOME, SAME GOAL

Wayde Twomey and Brett Robinson will face their old side Swan Districts together for the first time since leaving the club. The duo re-united at Subiaco this year with Robinson joining close friend Twomey after he made the move to the Lions in 2014. Twomey and Robinson won a WAFL premiership together in the infamous 2010 one-point classic for Swan Districts and will be hunting a win against their old mates this weekend.

CLIPPING WINGS

Swan Districts play a fast paced aggressive style which has caught Subi off guard in the past. They also have a handful of weapons in the forward line with three players over ten goals on the year. Subiaco will have to monitor the impact of powerful utility Matthew Rogers who has the ability play defensively or kick goals. The Lions back six will also have to take care of youngster Ricky Cary and speedster Rudy Riddoch who've both kicked more than ten goals this season as well.

QBE MAN OF THE MATCH:
