RD10 v Sharks - QBE Day / Mens Health

Subiaco welcome East Fremantle to Leederville Oval for QBE Day / Men’s Health in Round 10.

The two club’s head into the game on parallel sides of the ledger with the Sharks losing their last seven games and Subiaco winning their last seven games.
Despite the differing track records, the Lions will beware of letting their guard down against a wounded East Freo outfit.
In last week’s fixture, Subiaco (7-1), dismantled South Fremantle to take their position on top of the ladder. The win in captain Kyal Horsley’s 150th emphasised the Lions dominant run which started in March.

East Fremantle (0-7), fell far below the bench mark against East Perth. The Sharks were overwhelmed for the 7th consecutive game resulting in an 87-point loss to the Royals. The closest East Freo have come to winning was a 13-point loss to Perth in Round 4; but they will undoubtedly be looking for a way to break their early-season blues against the Lions.

After all the celebrations quietened down from Kyal Horsley’s massive 150th, eyes shifted focus to his good mate and midfield partner Chris Phelan. Phelan and Horsley have played a lot of football together so it’s fitting the legendary Lions pair secure life membership in consecutive weeks.
Phelan made his league debut in 2008 and was originally used as a back-man. A switch to the midfield in 2011 unlocked Phelan’s abilities on the ball and he has been one of the best on-ballers in the WAFL since. Phez has collected two Outridge medals, two premierships and accumulated almost 3000 disposals over his 150 games.
Lachlan Delahunty has been an important cog for the Subiaco machine and he brings in his 50th game in career best form. Delahunty collected 31 disposals and 27 hit outs in the ruck/midfield against the Bullogs last week. The dual premiership player has been a star for the Lions since moving to West Australia from Frankston in 2014.
The West Australian Football Commission has joined forces with Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia to host the West Australia Football League’s (WAFL) Know Your Score Men’s Health Round this weekend.
For the fourth year, the Know Your Score Men’s Health Round initiative will see players from across the state don blue armbands to honour the men in WA who have lost their lives to prostate cancer.
Subiaco’s fans can also make a direct difference by donating to our Central Park Plunge initiative. The Lions are competing with three other WAFL clubs to raise the most money for Prostate Cancer research. You can help by clicking the link below and donating any amount!
