Reserves Preliminary Match Recap

Monday, September 27, 2021 - 9:13 AM by Alice Miller

Subiaco Reserves claimed a tense 8-point preliminary final win in the closing stages of the final term on Sunday to book their spot in the 2021 Grand Final next week against Perth.

Subi got the start they wanted against Claremont this past Sunday and grabbed themselves an 11-point lead in the first before going into a goalless second term where Claremont piled on four unanswered goals.

It was Lions that came out in the second half with something to prove as a grand final appearance was on the horizon. The fourth quarter was telling of this as Subiaco made the most of their five scoring shots with 4 going through the middle compared to the Tigers managing just three minor scores.

Subiaco’s 66.67% accuracy in front of goal was credited to Aaron Breman (2), Jordan Faraone (2) and individual goal scorers; R. Borchet, Bellouard, Savigni and Stergiou who all put in for a solid result.

Jack Beverley was impressive with his 18 touches and nine tackles, while Noah Ash and Kaidyn Fullgrabe both notched up 19 disposals each. Lewis Putt stood out in the ruck as well with 35 hitouts making his way around the ground.

Subiaco Reserves will play Perth in the Grand Final, with bouncedown at 9:20 am Saturday morning.
