Subiaco’s Colts will be looking to continue their momentum into their semi final clash with East Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday September 9.

The two sides appear similar on paper, setting up an exciting clash where only the winner will continue on in season 2023.

Recent history shows mixed results for the Lions, but they’ll be looking to maintain what’s gotten them in a position to compete.

FORM

Subiaco was able to shake off the loss in round 20 which cost them a double chance, defeating West Perth in the Elimination Final.

After an even contest for the first half, the Lions got to work in the second, kicking seven goals while keeping the Falcons to just one behind.

The result allowed them to progress to the semi final against East Fremantle.

The Sharks lost their Qualifying Final match up to Claremont, after being scoreless in the first term.

They fought back, but it was ultimately too big of a deficit.

The importance of a good start from either side can not be understated.

LAST TIME THEY MET

With a top three spot on the line, East Fremantle were the ones to hold their nerve, winning by two points in round 20 at Leederville Oval.

In a close match, the Lions pulled away before the Sharks came back in the final quarter.

Subiaco continued to press, but East Fremantle were the ones ahead at the final siren.

Defender Travis Shearer was important, with 14 disposals and 10 marks to his name.

ONE TO WATCH

Making a name for himself in 2023 is midfielder Riley Wills.

The Carine-product has shown his ability to find the football, and the poise to impact the scoreboard when the opportunity presents itself.

The 19-year-old is averaging 24 disposals per game, and has kicked 13 goals from the midfield.

He will have an important role to play for the remainder of the finals series for Subiaco.
