Subiaco made it two wins from two outings in 2018 as they accounted for South Fremantle by 58 points on Saturday Evening at Fremantle Oval spurred by an 11 goal to 4 second half.
Deluca picked up a career best in possessions, Sokol continued his love affair with Fremantle Oval and a couple of Lions bagged their first goals.

INSIDE 50’s – Despite recording a convincing win at the end of the day, Subiaco was actually beaten by South Fremantle in forward 50 entries as South Fremantle had 47 compared to Subiaco’s 46.

GOALS – Ben Sokol bagged four final quarter goals to finish off with a team best five in the victory. Sokol has now kicked 12 goals in two games at Fremantle Oval since moving to Subiaco from South Fremantle.

TACKLES – Nick Menegola in just his second game led Subiaco in tackles on Saturday, recording a team high seven. Just behind Mengola were Kyal Horsley, Lachlan Delahunty, Leigh Kitchin and Rhys Waters with six tackles.

SECONDS – The game was still theoretically up for grabs at three quarter time and the first goal would be pivotal. It took Subiaco just 23 seconds to kick the decisive first goal of the final quarter as Ben Sokol kicked truly to extend the lead to a match winning 36 points.

FORWARD EFFICIENCY – The key statistical difference in the match was the conversion of each team inside 50. Subiaco’s forwards converted at an impressive 65% while South Fremantle were well below average at 36%. This 29% difference was the key statistical difference in the game.

POSSESSIONS – Two Lions recorded 30 possession games on Saturday evening with Josh Deluca leading the way with 33 and Kyal Horsley having 31. For Deluca it was just his first 30 possession game while for Horsley it was his 17th game amassing over 30 possessions.

DAYS – In an incredible quirk of the 2018 WAFL fixture, Subiaco will not play another away game for 42 days, with their next away game slated against Peel in Mandurah on May 19th. In the meantime, Subiaco will have three home games and two byes in what looms as a stop-start month to come.

POINTS – Only five points separated the teams eight minutes into the third quarter. Over the remaining 53 minutes of the game, Subiaco outscored South Fremantle by 53 points, kicking 11.7 to 3.2 in that final 53 minute span.
