1

INSIDE 50 DIFFERENTIAL – Subiaco lost the inside 50 count for the first time this season, as West Perth had 47 entries to Subiaco’s 46. As has been the case across the season, it was the superior execution once going inside 50 that was the difference in the match, with Subiaco converting their chances at 49% as opposed to West Perth’s 34%.

9

MARKS – Dashing defenders Hayden Kennedy and Jacob Miller each had career high in marks with nine on Saturday. Kennedy is putting together an outstanding season adding extra attacking flair to his game and that was evident on Saturday. Miller meanwhile has improved week on week with his 21 possessions another new career high.

16

SCORING SHOTS – West Perth registered just 16 scoring shots for the game on Saturday. While Subiaco’s heavy scoring has received wide praise in the opening four games, the work of the defence is unheralded. However across the season, the Lions defence has conceded just 20, 17, 14, 14 and now 16 scoring shots.

18

HANDBALLS – Greg Clark smashed his previous career high in handballs of 12, finishing with 18 handballs on the day for Subiaco. At one point Clark had 14 handballs as opposed to two kicks. Clark is another Lion who has continued to make the most of further opportunities, with his 24 possessions also a career high and the third game in a row where the tough midfielder has passed 20 possessions.

40

POSSESSIONS – Captain Kyal Horsley produced one of the great Subiaco games, with a career high 40 possessions. Horsley was particularly damaging with the game on the line over the middle two quarters when the game was on the line, picking up 23 possessions in the second and third quarter alone. Prior to this Horsley’s career high was 39 in the 2016 Grand Final loss.

101

GOALS – Fittingly Brad Stevenson kicked Subiaco’s 100th goal of the season midway through the final quarter. Subiaco are the first WAFL team to score 100 goals in the first five games of the year in a decade. Stevenson heads a list of four Lions now who have at least 12 games on the year, Stevenson has 19 while Rhys Waters has 13, Ben Sokol and Kyle Halligan each with 12.

110

TEAM MARKS – Subiaco recorded a season high in marks with 110 marks on the day. This game was played in a very different fashion to recent games, with a season low tackle count offset with the season high in marks and near season high in kicks. With the game being played in a different fashion it took Subiaco some time to adapt but eventually got on top recording the 22 point win.

236

SECONDS – The game effectively turned in the space of 236 seconds, 3 minutes and 56 seconds just before half time. With Subiaco trailing by 14 points at the time, goals to Leigh Kitchin, Lachlan Delahunty and Kyle Halligan helped turn what had been a steady deficit into a narrow half time lead.
