13 possessions per game, 5 marks per game, 4 tackles per game, 26 goals for season

The 24 year old Sorrento-Duncraig product has enjoyed a stellar season with the Lions in 2018. After a year off in 2017, Waters came straight back into the Subiaco side and has added a key defensive pressure trait to the forward line. Waters has laid just under four tackles a contest and has laid six of more tackles in five games so far in 2018.

Not just his defensive side though, Waters has kicked 26 goals to sit second on goals for Subiaco in 2018. Waters equalled career highs with five goals in round one, and backed it up again with five goals in round four.

Waters outstanding start to 2018 saw him rewarded with his first state game appearance kicking a goal as West Australia defeated South Australia. A popular member of the squad, Waters has added a key element and helped add to a forward line that lost forwards Liam Ryan and Liam Baker in the off-season.

9. Angus Litherland (53% of fan vote)

13 possessions per game, 6 spoils per game, 4 rebound 50s per game

After a serviceable first season as a Lion, Litherland has been one of the big improvers of the Subiaco side in 2018 adding additional run and class to the Subiaco defence. Litherland is averaging just over 13 possessions per game, significantly though he is averaging 10 kicks per game, highlighting the ability to rebound that Litherland is providing.

Litherland has also been one of Subiaco’s best defenders in the air, whether directly opposed to an opponent or coming across to help defend, averaging just under six spoils a game and the clear leader for Subiaco in this category so far in 2018.

Litherland was another who was rewarded with a first state game in 2018, helping WA to a win over SA. After playing 20 of a possible 23 games in 2017, Litherland is poised to go past that total having played consistently in all 13 games so far this year. Expect Litherland’s ongoing growth to be a key improved trait come finals time.

The Subiaco veteran just keeps on getting better. Chris Phelan in his 10th season with the Subiaco league side is averaging more possessions than any other point in his career.
