Memory Lane - Round 18
Memory Lane continues, this week with Round 18 in focus and five more memorable wins from Subiaco’s history.
From as recently as a year ago where Subiaco continued their home and away dominance over Peel, to as far back as 50 years ago where Subiaco were fighting for a finals spot.
One notable nailbiter and another monster win, are featured as the 2018 trip down memory lane continues.
Round 18, 1995
-- Subiaco 120 d 118 East Perth --
Subiaco were the team to beat in the 1995 season, sitting very comfortable at the top of the ladder as they headed into this contest against East Perth. After a strong opening quarter by Subiaco, the contest would really start to heat up in the second quarter as East Perth Mounted a comeback and brought the margin to within a goal at the half. Another sluggish quarter by Subiaco saw them down by 13 at three quarter time. However, Subiaco would show why they were premiership favourites as in the last quarter they would storm home to the small 2 point win. The forwards for Subiaco were on form this game with Jason Heatley, Andrew Macnish and Andrew Donnelly combing for 13 goals between them.
Round 18, 1968
-- Subiaco 122 d 76 South Fremantle --

Subiaco would get off to the perfect start in the first and would continue their dominance in the second as they took a 33 point lead into the second half. South Fremantle would muster up all their energy to create somewhat of a comeback in the third but they could not sustain their play and Subiaco would run over them in the last. There were some amazing individual performances in the match with Hadyn Bunton recording 40 disposals and 2 goals, Reg Hampson recording 30 disposals and 3 goals and Austin Robertson recording 21 disposals and 10 goals.
Round 18, 2017
-- Subiaco 86 d 40 Peel Thunder --
The last instalment of the 2016 grand final replay in the regular season took place in round 18. Both clubs looked to be playing finals footy again and wanted to get one over the other before finals started. On this day Subiaco would be the better side, after dominating the first quarter in which Peel would be scoreless, Subiaco were able to kick on from there and would cruse to the comfortable 46 point win. Skipper Kyal Horsley led from the front collecting 29 disposals and Aaron Heal also played an outstanding game with his 26 disposals and 14 marks.
Round 18, 2015
-- Subiaco 167 d 34 Perth --
Subiaco’s stellar 2015 season would continue in round 18 with their domination of Perth. Given Perth’s season to date it wasn’t a surprise Subiaco got the win, however the manner in which they did so was very impressive. Subiaco put on a show for their fans, and although the competition wasn’t there, Subiaco’s style of play did not waver. After piling on 71 first half points Subiaco would not let up and would add a further 96 in the second half. The big win came on the back of a huge performance from Sam Menegola who recorded 35 disposals and 4 goals. Mathew Boland also provided a great contribution scoring 7 goals.
Round 18, 2006
