Subiaco Women Best & Fairest Night Recap
The Subiaco Women’s team celebrated their 2018 season with their annual fairest and best and awards night last Friday.
Over 100 of Subiaco’s Women Reserves and League players, coaches and family members were on hand to see the best players of 2018 honoured.
The top award of the night, the Sarah Michell Medal went to Subiaco Women captain Hayley Miller who topped off an outstanding season with her second consecutive Michell medal.
Miller who also took out the association best and fairest, polled strongly from mid-season all the way through to the Grand Final, finishing comfortably ahead of the field.
The League Runner Up Fairest & Best was young gun McKenzie Dowrick, whose consistent season was rewarded.
Dowrick led the count for the majority of the first half, before Miller took control in the second half of the year.
One of the young stars of WAWFL football, Dowrick was outstanding in Subiaco’s Grand Final defeat and is one of a number of Subiaco Women in line for AFLW draft selection later in the year.
Meanwhile for the Reserves Taylor Evans was a popular winner of the Fairest & Best.
Evans who has previously been plagued by injury battles put together a consistent season to be the standout player of the Reserves team.
Runner Up for the Reserves Fairest & Best was Jess Ritchie.
Other awards that were received on the night were Ellie Blackmore winning the Rising Star for the best first year player and Jasmine King winning the best club person for her hard work off the field in 2018.
Coaches awards went to Aloyse Murray in the Reserves and Claire Ortlepp in the League.
The Subiaco Football Club congratulates all the award winners and the Subiaco Women’s team on a season which saw the League play off in a Grand Final and saw great strides within the development of the squad.
