The Subiaco Football Club is delighted to announce that Matthew Olds has been appointed as the new Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of the club.

Olds, who has been involved in the Subiaco system for the past three years, has most recently worked with the Colts program and was recognised as a key figure of this year’s Colts success with his work in strength and conditioning crucial to this year’s premiership win.

The appointment of Olds is another example of Subiaco rewarding outstanding performance, with Olds now being entrusted with continuing the excellent work that has been led by the outgoing Dan Hiscock in recent years.

Subiaco’s focus on strength and conditioning cannot be understated, with most recently the ability to get full seasons out of key players like Zac Clarke pivotal to the team’s on-field success.

For Olds it is an opportunity he is looking forward to in developing his own skill set and professional development.

“I’m very appreciative of the opportunity given to me by the club to initially work with the Senior program and to build on the fantastic work that Dan and his staff have put in over the past three years,” Olds said.

“It's been a great experience for me to work with the Colts over the last three years and I’m eager to take the next step and work with the Senior program.”

Olds' promotion continues a trend of key pieces of the Subiaco Colts being elevated to the Subiaco Senior program with former Colts Coach Beau Wardman and Talent Manager Michael Farmer now appointed to the senior program.

For Olds, having built strong relationships with both Beau and Michael, it will allow for a smooth transition to senior footy.

“Having worked with Beau and Michael for the past two years will hopefully make for a smooth transition into the senior program.” Olds said.

“We’ve been able to develop a great understanding and a strong relationship between the three of us, as well as refining processes that we have in place will be very beneficial moving forward.”

With the recent success of the Subiaco senior program and a culture instilled of hard work and passion for success, Olds feels well suited to help continue the culture of excellence that has been built by the club.

“Having been able to see the quality of program that Jarrad Schofield, Dan and other coaches have put together with the senior program is of a really high standard,” Olds said.

“It’s something that we wanted to bring into the colts and talent program, which was great to see proved successful this season with the colts premiership and something that we’ll maintain going forward.”

Subiaco are set to commence their pre-season training in mid-November.

Subiaco once again congratulates Matthew Olds on his appointment for 2019.
