This is the stats and figures from Subiaco’s league games in 2019, this is By The Numbers.

 

Subiaco continued their winning start to 2019 with a comfortable 62 point win as part of the WAFL’s ANZAC round.

 

Another big start was the catalyst, as Subiaco continued to make the most of their quick starts in 2019.

 

There were big days for Aaron Heal, Craig Hoskins, Max Walters, Josh Deluca and Braden Fimmano.

LADDER – Subiaco climbed to top spot of the WAFL ladder with their fourth win of the season to start 2019. First has been a popular spot for Subiaco over the past three seasons, in 2018 they spent all 20 rounds on top of the ladder while in 2017, they climbed to top spot in Round Nine and remained there for the rest of the season.

INTERCEPT MARKS – Aaron Heal led Subiaco with a team high five intercept marks in Saturday’s win. Heal who was a later started to 2019 has quickly found his form in the Subiaco back half, consistently finding himself in the right position to make defensive plays.

GOALKICKERS – Subiaco had a season high 12 players kick goals in Saturday’s win. The goals were evenly shared between the talls and smalls, with forwards Tom Edwards-Baldwin, Rhys Waters kicking three and Greg Clark and Ben Sokol each kicking two. On top of this, 12 players also had a share in the goals with a goal assist on the game.

DOUBLE DIGIT DISPOSALS – All bar one of the Subiaco league side passed 10 disposals in Saturday’s game, with tall forward Ryan Borchet the only one not to pass this benchmark. This one area best highlighted what was a consistent all round team performance from the Lions, who were able to consistently share the ball to get their attacking flair going.

CLEARANCES – Despite being well beaten in hit-outs, 54 to 16, Subiaco was still able to perform around the clearances. Subiaco finished plus 10 in this category, finishing with 40 clearances to Peel’s 30. Hard nosed midfielders Max Walters, Josh Deluca and Craig Hoskins combined for over half the team’s clearances with 21 combined.

KICKING EFFICIENCY – Subiaco had its best performance of the season by foot, finishing with a kicking efficiency of over 73%. They outperformed Peel by nearly seven percent in this area. Braden Fimmano and Craig Hoskins each had 100% efficiency by foot on Saturday.

POINTS FOR – Subiaco passed 120 points for the second time this season, finishing a couple of points shy of a season high on 121. So far this year in the WAFL there has only been three occasions of a team passing 120, with Subiaco having contributed two of these three times. By virtue Subiaco is the number one scoring team in the WAFL for 2019.
