Friday, May 31, 2019 - 1:31 PM

In Round 8 of the 2019 WAFL Premiership season Subiaco take on Peel Thunder in an away game on Sunday at David Grays Arena for a 2:15pm bouncedown.

After last week’s win against Claremont and a 62-point win in Round 4 in an Anzac Day match against Peel at home Subiaco will be looking to get yet another win.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels for updates across the day.

Goal Kickers

In last week’s match against Claremont Subiaco had 8 players kick goals including 3 from Ryan Borchet and 2 from Rhys Waters.  In Round 4, Subiaco had a season high 12 players kick goals against Peel. They will be looking to once again work together in the forward line and midfield to get as many scoring shots as possible and to be efficient when kicking for goal. The forward line at Subiaco have shown both consistent and strong form to start the season.

Quick Starts

In the last match against Peel Subiaco kicked seven goals to one in the first quarter giving them a strong lead for the remainder of the game.  This strong start allowed Subiaco to gain momentum and continue outscoring Peel in every quarter leading them to a 62-point win.

In the last couple of rounds Subiaco have been consistent with their ball movement all over the field however have only kicked 2 goals in the first quarters of these games. Subiaco will be looking to get the ball down into the forward line as fast as they can to get an early few goals allowing them to hopefully go into the second quarter with a strong lead.

Inside 50's

Subiaco were able to move the ball down forward efficiently in their clash with Claremont last week resulting in 57 inside 50 entries nearly double to Claremont’s 35 entries.   Subiaco have lead in the inside 50’s count in all of the games to start the season excluding Round 6 against South Fremantle.  Subiaco led the inside 50’s count with 52 inside 50’s compared to Peels 44 inside 50’s.  Subiaco’s ability to use the ball effectively in their forward 50 allowed them to accurately kick for goal ultimately winning them the game.

Opponents Form

Peel Thunder have had an uncertain start to the year with 3 wins and 4 losses. This means that they sit 5th on the ladder while Subiaco remain in 1st position.  Peels strong midfield and ruckman have been evident throughout the start of the season so Subiaco are expecting Peel to bring strong competition this week especially with their ruckwork. Peel Thunder are heading into this week’s match hungry for a win after their disappointing 5-point loss last week against West Perth. Subiaco will aim to maintain their strong form and keep Peel away from their forward 50 as much as possible.

Other Grades

Before League bounce down at 2.15pm, Subiaco Reserves will look to come back stronger after last week’s loss as they take on Peel Reserves for an 11.30am bounce down. The Colts team will also be working hard to come home with a win after losing last week, they will play on Friday night at 7.30pm. Subiaco Women’s team will take on Peel for a 9.15am bounce down on Sunday morning.
