Subiaco further stamped itself as the WAFL powerhouse with a dominant win over South Fremantle at Optus Stadium, winning back-to-back premierships.
The clash with South Fremantle, who finished in second spot on the WAFL ladder, ended in a massive 96-point win. This is the fourth premiership Subiaco have won in six years, and eighth premiership in the last 16 years. The Lions dominated from start to finish with 30 scoring shots and 58 inside 50's, as they ran out with a 18.12 (120) to 3.6 (24) victory, four points shy of the second 100-point victory in WAFL Grand Final history.
23-year-old Subi forward Ben Sokol won the Simpson medal as best-on-ground; having scored six goals from nine scoring shots, 15 disposals (12 kicks, 3 handballs) and eight marks.
Kyal Horsley topped Subi’s disposal count racking up 30 touches (14 kicks, 16 handballs), while Sandover Medallist Lachlan Delahunty and Ben Newton finished with 27 and 25 disposals respectively.
South Fremantle had limited opportunities throughout the game thanks to the Subiaco defence; with South only managing to score three goals throughout the game from nine scoring shots (33.33%) whilst recording 29 inside 50's.
Subiaco again had a broad spread of goal-kickers, with ten players hitting the scoreboard with multiple goals to Sokol, Marsh, and Delahunty, and singles to Kitchin, Joyce, Moore, Newton, Wheeler and Horsley.
