Latham hangs up the boots
Earlier this week, Joel Latham informed the playing group that he will be hanging up the boots ahead of the 2020 Optus WAFL Premiership Season.
28-year-old Latham, finishes up playing 76 league games for Subiaco, averaging just under 14 disposals a game.
Latham joined Subiaco from West Perth in 2014, winning a WAFL League Premiership in his first year with the Club, playing 22 League Games including the Grand Final.
In 2016, Joel became a trusted defender for the Lions and managed 316 disposals over 22 games. Latham finished 5th in the voting for the Outridge Medal in his strongest season at WAFL level.
In his 10 years in the WAFL; seven years with the Subiaco Football Club, Latham has played 147 games across Reserves and League. Latham played for three years (2011-2013) with West Perth Reserves.
Subiaco Football Club Captain, Leigh Kitchin spoke about Latham "Ladle has been a great player and incredible person to have at our footy club. The kind of guy you will miss for much more than just his onfield abilities."
"Joel is a great team man who put his body through the wringer. Perennially one of the fittest players in the competition his preparation and work rate was elite. It will be sad to see the great man hang them up but we wish him all the best for whatever he sets his mind to next" said Kitchin.
Football Operations Manager, Michael Farmer said “It is great to have a player of Joel’s calibre at the Subiaco Football Club. He will be missed by all players and support staff around the club, we all wish him all the best with his future endeavours”.
