Round 5 Recap v Peel Thunder
LEAGUE
Following last week’s Grand Final rematch against South Fremantle, Subiaco were looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss, and secure a win against Peel Thunder at David Grays Arena on Saturday afternoon.
In wet and windy conditions, Subiaco ran out 37-point winners in a hard-fought affair to even the ledger at two wins and two losses, moving into the top five and getting their season back on track in the process.
An inaccurate first quarter by the Lions saw them record 1.8 at the end of the first term, but an inside 50 domination proved too much for Peel’s defence in the end and saw the Lions run out 10.15.75 to 5.8.38 winners.
Reigning Sandover Medallist; Lachlan Delahunty dominated in the ruck with 39 hit outs and 18 disposals, giving first use to midfielders Leigh Kitchin (28 disposals, 8 inside 50’s) and Max Walters on his return from injury with (23 disposals, one goal). Lewis Upton was also solid in his League debut, kicking one goal and recording four tackles for the afternoon.

Round five of the Simply Energy Colts competition saw Subiaco flex their muscles and dominate Peel Thunder as they ran out winners; 22.8.140 to 7.7.49.
The majority of the first quarter was an arm wrestle with only 10 points separating the two sides at the first break, but the Lions kicked away from that point, thanks to bags of six and five goals to Lachlan McKay and Sandon Page respectively. Subiaco dominated in every facet of the game as a result of their midfield dominance as they led the hit-out count (53-26) and disposal count (270-231) and surged forward to score.
Another good team effort by Subiaco who won all key indicators and their conversion rate inside 50’s / goal was outstanding.
Kalanni Barton originally from the Brigades football club in the Midwest debuted and was a solid contributor in his first appearance. Jai Jackson also played his first game for the Subiaco colts after coming across from East Fremantle and was one of best.
Lachlan Vanirsen topped Subiaco’s possession getters with 23 Jed Kemp and Mathew Johnson continuing their great run of form both with 21 each. Tyler Brockman led the tackle count with eight and also booted three majors.

Next week Subiaco take on East Perth at 9:30am at Leederville Oval this Saturday, August 22. The club will be looking to hold their strong position and keep building towards a finals birth.

Subiaco followed up their drubbing of South Fremantle last week with another strong showing against second placed Peel Thunder as they continued their unbeaten run this season.
In tough conditions at David Grays Arena Subiaco clawed themselves back from a 5-point deficit at the last break to run out eventual 6.5.41 to 5.2.32 winners.
Aimee Schmidt was dominant once again, booting two majors to continue her strong form this season with support from Lara Filocamo, Claudia Langley, Maggie MacLachlan and Lindal Rohde, who all kicking one each.
