Nichols Building Team Announcement: Subi set to debut another two players in 2020

Friday, August 28, 2020 - 8:30 AM

This Saturday, Subiaco will take on Perth at Mineral Resources Park, with bouncedown at 12.05pm.

Liam Hickmott and Aaron Breman are both set to make their league debut against Perth, with Powell set to return from injury.

Both Hickmott and Breman are from local Subiaco District junior club Sorrento-Duncraig.

Hickmott is a two-time Colts Taylor Medallist, Jack Clarke Medallist and last years Reserves Best and Fairest winner.

Breman has been in the seniors program for four years and finally get his chance after an unlucky run of injuries. Breman has been a stand out performer in the reserves this year, and deserving of a spot in the league side.

Final team announcement via WAFL website at 5pm tonight.

Ones to Watch:

After losing the hit-out count last week 42 to 12 and Subiaco desperate for a win, expect reigning Sandover Medallist Lachlan Delahunty to make amends this weekend against Perth. The star ruckman only needs to look back to the game against Peel Thunder a fortnight ago, where he dominated the contest. Delahunty recorded 39 hit outs for the match along with 19 disposals to stamp his mark on the opposition and once again stake his claim as one of the most dominant players in the competition.

After a strong showing last weekend that saw a tidy return of three goals and seven marks, Ben Sokol has been steadily building his way towards another fantastic season. With an astonishing 7 goals from 13 marks in his last game against Perth, expect Sokol to once again give the Perth backline plenty of headaches.

The Lions weren’t at their best by foot last weekend, with poor disposal efficiency around the ground and in front of the goals, recording 12 behinds to go with seven goals for the match. Expect a change forward of centre this weekend with an increased focus on getting quality ball inside attacking 50 to give the forwards every opportunity of kicking a winning score. Expect Max Walters to provide that link between the midfield and the half-forward line and continue his strong form since returning to the side a few weeks ago.

Jack Beverley’s pressure inside 50 was terrific last weekend, recording a mammoth 12 tackles for the match. The half-forward has only laid less than seven tackles once this season and looks set to keep that up against Perth this weekend. He will be keen to play his role and lock the ball inside 50 when it gets there as the Lions look to make the most of their chances going into attack.
