Preliminary Final Colts Match Preview v East Fremantle

Tuesday, September 22, 2020 - 11:37 AM by Creed Griffiths

Week Two of the 2020 Simply Energy Colts Finals Series will get underway with a Preliminary Final clash between Subiaco and East Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Bouncedown is at 10:25am, this Sunday, September 27.

If you can’t make it to the game, keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day.

FORM
Subiaco have enjoyed a fantastic 2020 season so far, finishing second on the ladder after the Home-And-Away Season and securing a double-chance in the Finals series. Subiaco have endured a dip in form over the last two matches, losing the final match of the regular season to East Perth by nine points and then going down by 15 points to Claremont in the first week of finals.

OPPONENTS FORM
East Fremantle scraped into the Finals series on percentage after winning on the last day of the regular season and then winning their first elimination final against West Perth last weekend. There has been nothing easy about the Sharks 2020 Finals series and it is only set to get harder as they take on a Subiaco outfit that defeated them by seven goals last time they met in Round 8.

LAST FIVE GAMES (most recent first)
Subiaco: L L W W W
East Fremantle: W W L W W

LAST TIME THEY MET
These two sides last met at Leederville Oval in Round 8 of the 2020 Season as the Lions won by 42 points, 12.7.79 to 5.7.37. After a relatively tight first half, the Lions kicked away in the second half as they piled on eight goals to the Sharks two. Ball magnet Lachlan Vanirsen was at his prolific best, gathering the ball at will on his way to 27 disposals with support from Matthew Johnson (20 disposals, six inside-50’s) and Jed Kemp (18 disposals, eight tackles) as the Lions ran riot in the middle of the ground.

GOAL KICKERS
The Lions were at their dominant best last time these two sides met, going inside 50 41 times to record 19 shots on goal. Jaxon Bilchuris reeled in nine marks to kick a tidy bag of four, with Sandon Page (two goals, six marks) and Nicholas Cleaver (two goals, four marks) dominating the Sharks defence.

OTHER GRADES
Week Two of the WAFL Reserves Finals series sees Subiaco and Claremont do battle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Bounce down is at 1:00pm on Sunday, September 27.

IN ONE SENTENCE
If Subiaco regains their form and kick their brand of footy back in to play, their forward line will once again prove too hard for the Sharks to stop.
