Preliminary Final Reserves Match Preview v Claremont

Week Two of the WAFL Reserves Finals series brings about the Preliminary Final clash between Subiaco and Claremont at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Bounce down is at 1:00pm on Sunday, September 27 with this weekend’s winner meeting the undefeated East Perth, who will be enjoying a weekend off.

The Lions have enjoyed a very successful 2020 Home-and-Away Season which saw them secure second place on the ladder and earn the opportunity to lose a final and still remain in contention for the Premiership. The Lions are coming off a loss to the form team of the 2020 Season in East Perth and while they challenged for periods of the match, they were ultimately defeated by 26 points. 

OPPONENTS FORM
Claremont finished third in the Home-And-Away season, one and a half wins behind second-placed Subiaco. The Tigers have known they are going to have to do things the hard way if they are to win the Premiership, kicking off their Finals campaign last weekend with a come from behind victory against South Fremantle.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Subiaco and East Perth last played back in Round 1 of the 2020 WAFL Home-and-Away Season. The Lions defeated Claremont by 35 points that day, 14.8.92 to 9.3.57 at Leederville Oval. The Lions opened up a four-goal lead at quarter time and didn’t look back for the rest of the afternoon as they piled on 22 scoring shots to 12. Jack Borchet was the star of the show, booting three majors with doubles from Jake Stergiou and Thomas Baldwin-Edwards helping the Lions to victory in cloudy conditions.
