Young Lion crowned king of the jungle
Subiaco’s Lachlan Vanirsen was last night awarded the Jack Clark Medal as the 2020 Colts Best & Fairest at the 100th Sandover Medal Presentation Dinner, to cap off what has been a stellar season for the 17-year-old.
Hailing from Warwick-Greenwood, Vanirsen has been the dominant midfielder of the competition this year, averaging a shade under 23 disposals, 5.8 marks and 4.6 tackles per match, while also pushing forward at times too, booting seven majors from his 10 matches so far this season.
The Best & Fairest award follows his selection in the State U/18’s squad earlier this month, honouring the fantastic season Vanirsen has had. All that is now missing in Season 2020 for Vanirsen is a Premiership medallion, an accolade he will no doubt be eager to get his hands on after this weekend’s Grand Final against Claremont.
The newly crowned Best & Fairest winner will run out with his Subiaco teammates out this Sunday, October 4 against an in-form Claremont outfit at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Bouncedown for the 2020 WAFL Colts Grand Final is at 12:10pm, but if you can’t make it to the game, keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the afternoon.
