From Leederville Oval to Waverley
2020 Subiaco Colts Premiership player Tyler Brockman was one of the 10 WA products to be selected at the 2020 NAB AFL Draft on Wednesday night.
Tyler Brockman found his new home at Waverley; having been selected by the Hawks with Pick 46 of the draft.
Subiaco General Manager of Football Operations, Kristian Dicton spoke highly of Tyler and acknowledged the outstanding achievement of being drafted onto an AFL list.
“In an interrupted and shortened season due to COVID-19 players didn’t have much time to find form, but Tyler gradually improved week in week out which is testament to the amount of work he put in on the training track, and more importantly the extra’s he did to be more consistent.”
“Tyler’s family have also played a big part in supporting him to follow his dreams” said Dicton.
Joining the Hawks from Subiaco, Tyler played 10 games in the WAFL Colts competition this year.
As well as his offensive weapons, Brockman averaged 4.7 tackles per game for the Lions this year.
Brockman drew the attention of Hawthorn recruiters this year, with a number of exciting moments, described by recruiters as an explosive small forward who possesses both elite speed and agility.
Since 2017, Subiaco have had 11 players drafted to AFL clubs, with an elite high performance culture a key reason why there has been such a high number of Subiaco products drafted in recent history.
“The legacy over the past decade of fantastic coaches, players and support staff that continually drive high standards which has filtered down from the senior program to our futures, and development squads in our talent pathway” said Dicton.
