WAFLW Match Preview v East Freo
This week Subiaco are faced with their supposed round nine opponent in East Fremantle after a COVID disrupted round a few weeks ago. The game will be at Leederville Oval on Sunday at 3pm.
FORM
Subiaco are coming off a purple patch of season 2021 in the last two games and are looking for a third consecutive win this week to keep these impressive performances going. This good run of form dates back to round 8 when they played this year’s team to beat Swan Districts and came close to grasping victory going down by only a margin of 8 in the end. Their wins to follow were over South Freo in Round 10 in a 25 point triumph and last week’s good win against Claremont by 8.
Amy Hunt continues to lead the goal scoring for Subiaco this season with nine goals, sitting fourth overall for the competition, the next best for the Lions being Kia Buckley with seven for the year.
OPPONENTS FORM
East Freo have had a tough season so far with only three wins out of ten games. They claimed victory against the Lions in round 3 in dominating performance, followed by a 46-point win in round 5 against the struggling South Fremantle. Most recently their win against the Bulldogs last week by 15 will be motivation to stay on the winner’s list after this weeks fixture.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Last time these two sides met was in round three earlier this year when East Freo put up a formidable performance 6.9 (45) to the Lions managing a single point for the game 0.1 (1). From the get go did the Sharks perform well. The game looked to be owned my East Freo as they covered all facets of the game. Scoring shots ended up being fifteen to one in favour of the Sharks, happy to come away with their heads held high. This result, along with claiming the four points over Subiaco for the last two clashes, will work in East Freo’s favour in this weeks fixture.
GOAL KICKERS
It was a day for only East Freo to feature on the goal kickers list with Madeline Ross kicking three, Alli Nokes, Larissa Versaci and Elle Sanders all kicking one each. Subiaco’s Beatrice Devlyn got the Lion’s minor score for the day. Keep an eye out for Subi’s Amy Hunt and Kia Buckley in front of the big sticks this time round.
