2021 Subiaco GFL/EDFL zone carnival
This weekend was the annual zone carnival between the Esperance District Football Association and Goldfields Football League down in Esperance.
Kicking off at Gibson Football Club on Saturday were 3 game; year 9’s, year 10’s and women’s. There was a very high standard of football played in each game, Goldfields however were too strong finishing the day with 3 wins.
The following day was a hit out between all star sides and a developing teams with players being picked from their performance in the previous game. It was a gusty day at Newtown Condingup Oval and the competition was tight. Some of the carnival’s stand out players from the year 9’s were Kaleb Walley and Rydn Rae-Anthonysz and in the year 10s Judd Kelman and Koopa Walsh.
Subiaco Talent Manager, Stuart Berryman and Talent coaches Stuart Page, Steve Sadowski and Steve Elliot travelled to Esperance to watch the games to scout players to join the Subiaco talent system.
Subiaco FC has always a strong tie to its country distracts with many of its past and current stars growing up in the regions. “It was a fantastic competition between our two country districts. There was many talented players that will have a promising future in the maroon and gold,” said Berryman
An inter-regional team will be chosen from these games that will compete for Subiaco in the 15s Development Carnival in the July school holiday.
“A big thanks has to go to everyone involved in organising and running the carnival, especially at Gibson and Newtown Condingup Football Clubs for hosting”
