Forward hits 100 WAFL Game Milestone
This weekend’s game v Swan Districts will be Ben Sokol’s 100th WAFL game since debuting for South Fremantle against Subiaco in Round 1, 2014.
Sokol played 11 league games for South Fremantle before joining Subiaco for the 2016 WAFL Premiership Season.
In Ben’s first year for Subiaco, he was as a handy contributor for the team kicking 22 goals from 12 games including a seven goal tally against his former side South Fremantle in Round Seven.
Sokol in his second season with Subiaco finished with 49 goals, second best for the Lions for the year. Sokol kicked bags of six and five throughout the year, and was a strong performer in the 2017 WAFL Grand Final, kicking four goals. Sokol continued to show promise as a primary and secondary target inside fifty for Subiaco.
It was strength to strength for Sokol, leading the Clubs goalkicking tally in 2018 with 43 majors for the season and won his first WAFL Premiership kicking 5.3 against the Falcons in the Grand Final.
Sokol led the Clubs goalkicking tally for the second straight year in 2019 with 51 and subsequently won the Bernie Naylor Medal for the WAFL’s Leading Goalkicker. Sokol kicked 6.3 in the Grand Final against South Fremantle also winning the Simpson Medallist as best on ground. Sokol also featured as a State Representative earlier in the year.
Ben Sokol joins an esteemed group of Subiaco players featuring the likes of fellow players Kitchin, Delahunty, Lockyer and Heal to have played 100 WAFL Games.
