Match Preview v Perth presented by CSG Marketing (https://csg.marketing/)

After another interrupted week of footy last weekend due to a snap lockdown, it's fast forward to NAIDOC round where Subiaco will host the special occasion against Perth on Saturday at 2.10pm.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day if you cannot make it to the game.

FORM
The Lions are coming off a bit of a rough patch of form over the last two games, falling short on both occasions by less than a kick making it all the more harder to take. Round 11’s clash with West Coast was Subi’s second loss of the season and handed the grappling Eagles their first victory in an upset. Able to bring themselves back in the game and were crucially close to claiming the four points when the final siren sounded, Subi were up against an improved West Coast line up as they had some handy AFL-listed inclusions brought back into the team. The game that followed was just as tight, a narrow one-point loss to the Swans and has now set up a Subi team aiming to get back on the winners list this week.

OPPONENTS  FORM
Perth are sitting on four wins and six losses over their season so far and have had a week to reset after they hosted a 34-point loss 8.13 (61) against South Freo (15.5 (95) in round 12. The Demons were on the back foot right from the start with the reigning champs’ lead getting out to 45 at half time after a goalless second term from the home team. Opportunities gone begging when the Demons finished the game winning the scoring shots 21-20. Perth however will be welcoming back quality players from injury over the next few games, including Ex-AFLPlayer, Chris Masten, so expect the returning calvary to boost Perth’s chances this week.

GOAL KICKERS
Still Sokol reigns the Subiaco goal kicking for 2021 with 24 majors, kicking an average of 3.2 a game from his eight match ups he’s played in. Last time Subi played the Demons it was a day out for the full forward, booting 6 of Subi’s 16 goals in a demolition of a game where Perth managed just one goal.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Round 9’s clash with these two sides is one that Perth won’t want to reflect on to much coming into this week’s game as the scoreline told the tale with 1.5 (11) to Subiaco’s 29 scoring shots for 16.13 (109). In what looked to be a complete blowout in favour of the Lions, Perth managed to kicked on through the big sticks in the final term after three goalless quarters having just six shots at goal all up. Subiaco put on a clinic and got more of the ball with eight of their players having 20+ disposals the most being Greg Clark with 42, but Perth’s Austin Davis (20) was his team’s highest disposal getter.

OTHER GRADES
Subiaco Colts will play their game against Perth at 9am in the morning followed by the Ressies at 11:30am, both match ups will be home games for the Lions played at Leederville Oval.
