Not quite the same fashion as the last meeting with Perth a few weeks ago, but a 27 point win none the less was what Subi came up with this week and made their way back to first on the ladder. Subi also avoided rewriting a bit of their history, if they had lost on Saturday it would’ve been their third straight loss which hasn’t happened since 2013, so they’d be happy to have dodged that bullet.
The first term showed that both teams seemed equally up for the challenge, Max Walters and Sokol helping Subiaco to a lead at the end of the quarter being a start they wanted. Although a short 7 point lead heading into the first break, Subiaco were able to keep their momentum going into the second term as they started to sink their teeth in, kicking six in a flurry of goals to Perth’s one. Subi’s ball movement proved slicker to that of the Demons and in turn pushed the margin out to 36 points at half time.
Unforced skill errors and missed opportunities by Subi in the third left the door slightly ajar for Perth to make their way back in the game. Only four behinds was all Subi could manage for the 25 minutes, while a four goal term to the Demons got them within reaching distance and even more so to get the job done in a strong final term.
Subi weren’t going to let the game slip away that easy and made it their game to win as their defence stood up big time and held Perth goalless while kicking two of their own winning by a final margin of 27.
Nearly letting one slip, Subi were able to keep themselves in it and held the game, proving to good in the end for a competitive Perth lineup.
Delahunty (30), Kitchin (33) and Clark (36) all had standout performances, combining for 11 tackles and 21 inside 50s. Milestone man, Drew Rohde didn’t disappoint with the spotlight on him having 17 touches, seven tackles and clunked a few around the ground as well. The fresh face of Oskar Matthews proved a worthy addition to the team winning the hitouts (28) and looked confident in his role, as well as Subi’s other debutant Josh Robbins who also had a nice first showing bringing plenty of pressure around the ball and enjoyed a well earnt Gatorade shower after the game.
Next week Subi will have their fourth home game in a row against a familiar opponent in West Coast who they only faced not three weeks ago as Subi look to make themselves comfortable once again in top spot. The game kicks off at 2:10pm this Saturday.

RESERVES
The ressies didn’t get the result they wanted over the weekend, but made it a closer game to how it started.
Goalless first half was what Subi produced but not without their chances, six scoring shots for six points to Perth’s 7.5 (47) at the same point in the game.
However, Subi seemed to wake up after the main break and reset to kick 4.2, more than the Demons with 3.1 and started to see some momentum swing in their favour.
The little wins didn’t stop there, the Lions won the final term adding 3.2 to their score as Perth managed only one goal, but much to the home team’s dismay, three goals wasn’t enough to get them over line. The final margin was 22-points in favour of the Demons and took away a well-deserved win.
Ben Golding was the standout performer for Subi, 18 touches, four tackles, five marks and added three goals to his tally for the season. Noah Ash also equaled Ben with 18 disposals on a disappointing day. J. Faraone also featured on the scoreboard with two, while Atkinson and Borchet both had a goal each.
On a positive note, the result sees no impact to Subi’s position on the ladder as they still sit fourth after 10 games. Next week will be a week off as the League team plays West Coast, but round 16 will be another home game against South Freo at 11:40am on the 27th.

COLTS
Subi’s Colts had a thumping victory over Perth on Saturday recording their biggest win of the season 17.8 (110) to 5.10 (40).
They got off to a good start winning the first quarter due to Perth’s wasted opportunities.
The second term however was down to dominance by Subi and giving themselves as many shots at goals as possible (9) six of which going through the middle and piling on a 30-point lead at half time.
Although the game tightened in the third quarter and scoring lessened from both sides, the final tormented up being the biggest of the game raining goals for Subi once again another six goal 25 minutes and made it a certain victory if it wasn’t already after three quarter time.
Jed Kemp was the highest ball-getter with 31 touches and furthermore had seven tackles and clunked nine around the ground. Matt Johnson was also a stand out performer his stats telling the tale, 26 disposals, nine marks, nine tackles, six inside-50s and even a goal to top it all off. Campbell Henderson topped the goal scoring for the morning, four majors to go nicely with his 13 touches and eight marks. Bolton with three, Evitt with two, Tyrell two and Jake South with two as well. Farmer, Johnson, Woodley and Sadowski not missing out with one goal each too.
Colts will also have a bye this weekend with League playing West Coast but come round 16 they’ll host the match up with South Freo on Sunday the 25th.
