Match Preview v West Perth presented by CSG Marketing (https://csg.marketing/)

The end of the season is fast approaching so every game becomes all the more crucial to come out on top and bank the four points. It’s now round 17 and Subi are set to face the fit and firing Falcons this Saturday afternoon in a possible finals preview.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day if you cannot make it to the game.

FORM
Subi have seem to hit their straps once again and are looking to make their top form at the moment a sure thing as the home and away season comes to a close. Last week was their third win in a row and against their predicted toughest opponent, South Freo, but the game didn’t meet up to its expectations. Scoring shots 23-9 in the Lions favour meant the 13 behinds they kicked had they been goals could’ve turned the game into a blowout and would’ve won by more than 44 points. Subi are actually leading for the most behinds kicked this year meaning they are having plenty shots at goal which gives indication just how much supply they’re getting into their front half. In terms of personnel, the Skipper continues to lead from the front averaging his own 27 touches and six tackles a game as he finishes off of the season. West Perth’s stacked midfield will be at the forefront of Subi’s mind, so keep an eye on how that battle unfolds on Saturday.

OPPONENTS FORM
West Perth are on a roll coming off six wins in a row now after last week taking down Peel in a 24 point victory. The Falcons are on one more loss than Subi at this point in the season as the last time these sides played each other it was Subi who went home winners. Of the last six games they’ve played, four of which have been games so this week will be interesting to see if they can keep their winning streak going despite being away at Leederville Oval. West Perth are home to two of the comp’s best midfielders in Shane Nelson and Aaron Black who both average over 30 disposals a game. To add to that, leading goal scorer Tyler Keitel also belongs to the Falcons which creates a target on his back for Subi defenders this week.

GOAL KICKERS
Subi’s Ben Sokol has now booked himself a spot in the top five goal scorers this season, now sitting on 29 majors for 11 games. In one of his better performances this year, Sokol kicked four against West Perth back in round three when these sides played each other last. Next best is Nicholas Martin who’s booted 16 from even less ten games this year. Martin didn’t feature last time they played the Falcons, so this Saturday will be an even better chance to see how he stands against them to boost his goal tally.

LAST TWO TIMES
Earlier in the season, Subi clinched the victory in the dying stages of the game when up until the final siren sounded seemed to be West Perth’s game to lose. In a game that Subi didn’t get the start they wanted, they did an almighty job of getting themselves back into the contest and eventually come away win an unlikely win. The final margin was just 3 points so fingers crossed its another cracker of a game this time round. Last year however, when times were different, it was West Perth that had the last laugh winning 12.5 (77) to 8.10 (58) in a more convincing performance from the Falcons as they held the lead for all four quarters.

OTHER GRADES
All Subiaco grades are playing West Perth this Saturday at Leederville Oval, Colts start at 9:10am for a must win game to keep their finals hopes alive and to follow is Reserves at 11:40am for their clash with the Falcons.
