A relatively even first quarter saw the Lions up by six points at the first break, with the Lions comfortably leading the scoring shots nine to three and the inside 50 count. Ben Golding, playing his second league game kicked his first league goal during the first quarter, and finished with two majors by the end of the game.

It was a bit of déjà vu with the Royals coming out of Half Time on top and did most of the goal kicking in the second half, narrowing the margin by 14 points to give them a sniff at the three-quarter time break going into the fourth quarter with momentum behind them.
The Royals won the last quarter too, however, were not able to get it done with the Subi outfit limiting the Royals to only four scoring shots to cement the win for the Lions.
Experienced big-man, Delahunty was Subi’s top performer for the afternoon having 28 disposals, 21 hit-outs, 7 marks and 5 tackles, while Chad Harris was everywhere, racking up 25 possessions and 4 inside 50’s.
Max Walters contributed well across half-forward with two goals to go with 14 touches, five marks and four tackles while Ben Sokol and Ben Golding kicked two goals.
Subiaco's defence was superb with Aaron Heal finishing with 19 possessions and six marks, and Jordan Lockyer 18 disposals and eight marks in the absence of Angus Dewar.
Subi now head down to Mandurah to face Peel Thunder in the last game of the home-and-away season of 2021, looking to lock away the minor premiership with a victory over the Thunder.
