Esperance Grand Final Weekend
The 2021 Esperance Districts Football Association grand final was held this weekend in trying conditions at Newtown Condingup FC. The new format had the Under 14s and Colts play off under lights and heavy rain on Friday night with the remaining finals fought out on Saturday in front of a big crowd and gusty weather.
Subiaco FC Talent Manager, Stuart Berryman was impressed by the quality of Football “it was great to see such well fought and close matches across almost all games last weekend. The EDFA have to be proud about the quality of the competition shown in the championship games and also to Newtown Condingup FC for hosting the event. The crowds were very impressive even for very average conditions on Friday night. “
Game 1 – U 14s
Ports FC (6.6 42) def Esperance FC (0.3 3)
The end result doesn’t pay homage to a well fought contest. Esperance held on by weren’t able to put a major on the board in the belting rain. Ports FC were too good and ran away in the second half, with a best on ground effort from Keenan Rymers to round out a dominate season.
Game 2 – Colts
Ports FC (5.5 35) def Gibson FC (2.5 17)
Game 2 was a nail biter with only 1 point separating Ports FC and Gibson FC at each break. In the down pour of rain that would please any farmer, Ports Fc were able to kick 2 unanswered goals in the last quarter to come away victors. Subiaco FC Futures talent, Riley Mayfeild displaying a dominate effort.
Game 3 – U 16s

Game 4 – Women
Esperance FC (5.5 35) def Gibson FC (3.2 20)
Gibson FC in the inaugural season were off to a strong start leading at the half time break. Esperance were too strong however showing why they finished at the top of the ladder with 421%. Shyanne Thomas-Mirrieless kicking 2 goals and Isobel Bruce controlling possession from the midfield.

Game – League
Gibson FC (10.11 71) def by Esperance FC (11.9 75)
The best game was saved for last with a grand final to remember. Gibson lead by 1 point going into the final quarter. Esperance were too strong though, using the wind to their advantage and booting 2 goals to take out the flag, Reece Griffiths having a field day with 4 majors
