Subi Seniors well into pre-season
The Subiaco Football Club are well into pre-season, with just over two months until our round one clash against South Fremantle at Leederville Oval in the City of Vincent Match.
The senior players returned from the Christmas and New Year’s break in top condition and raring to go to start 2022; hungry to improve.
“By all reports the players had a good few weeks off over Christmas’ be it with family and friends or judging by some of their Instagram pages out on the water letting some steam off.” Said Football Operations General Manager, Kristian Dicton
“We returned on the 11th of January and testament to the groups professional approach they all returned in good condition.”
Prior to the break, Subiaco recruited Jordan Snadden from East Fremantle, Stef Giro from the Fremantle Dockers and Rylie Morgan from Claremont; who will all add depth to the senior squad. The recruits have hit the ground running at the Club, taking no time to establish strong relationships within the playing group and coaching staff.
“They are all similar in the fact they have come to the club with the desire to improve and work hard which is evident in how they have engaged and applied themselves over preseason” said Dicton.
Kristian Dicton stated that the rehab group is quite small at the moment, which is a positive sign.
“Our high-performance team of Michael Dobbin, Jemma Bassi, Phoebe Freeman, Maddi Oudman and Doctor Kent Morison do a fantastic job of rehabilitating our players and getting them out on the park.”
“Numbers are pretty low in rehab at the moment which is pleasing with Koby Fullgrabe ( knee) Nick Menegola ( knee) and Patrick Mullane (shoulder) currently on the long term injury list” said Dicton.
In 2021, the Club secured its 16th league premiership, bouncing back from a disappointing 2020 season. Beau and the assistant coaches have challenged the group to go from “Good to Great” in 2022.
After debuting 16 players over the last two seasons, Dicton expects a few players will continue to develop at league level this year, with some players in for big years.
“Wil Hickmott, I can see building on last season’s form and becoming one of the more damaging wingman in the competition. Lewis Putt strung some good games together throughout 2021 being his first season in WAFL football, I feel with another preseason under his belt he will one to watch.”
“Connor Patterson and Sandon Page have both worked hard over the summer doing all the extras and after a consistent first year in the reserves they will be aiming to push their way in the league side at some point” said Dicton.
