Futures: Shining Bright Under Lights
Friday night under lights at Mineral Resources Park following the league clash had Perth play Subiaco in round 4 of the WAFL Futures competition.
A physical affair in what was perfect football made for some entertaining football between the under 16s. 9 players from the Goldfields regional starred in the Lions line up giving some speed and star power to the side. Subiaco led at the halftime break by 4 goals with both teams inaccurate in front of goal. Futures Head Coach, Stuart Page, was frustrated with his team, telling them at the break they had a lot more to give.
The Lions came out firing in the second half led by ruckman Fin Henderson with a best on ground performance who won almost every marking contest. Roving at his feet and delivering silver service to the forwards was Esperance's workhorse Regan Mott. Koopa Walsh led the goal kickers again with 3 majors and a few highlight-worthy goals from Josh Trott. Defenders kept Perth to 4 goals with defensive efforts led by Xavier Hickey with another solid game.
This weekend Subiaco Futures face East Fremantle is what is looking to be their toughest challenge yet. Stick around after Subiaco vs West Coat WAFL to see the best of the next generation.
