Subiaco’s WAFLW side will have a chance to fight back into the top four when they take on South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Friday April 8.

The clash under lights will be crucial for the Lions, as they look to find consistency ahead of the mid-season bye.

FORM

Subiaco’s season has been filled with highs and lows, with the side sitting in fifth with two wins from six matches.

While the team had a strong win over West Perth following the bye, they were outplayed by East Fremantle the week after, with questions remaining on how they can turn it around.

They get their chance this week against the sixth-placed Bulldogs.

South Fremantle has had a tough season, losing their last five matches following a win in round one.

LAST TIME THEY MET

In round three this year, Subiaco were able to get their first win of the season, defeating the Bulldogs by 19 points at the same ground the two sides will battle at this weekend.

Maddison Dodd was impressive, using her run and carry to turn defence into attack, while captain Tarni Golisano was her ever-reliable self, racking up a game-high 23 disposals.

It was the first time this year the side was able to stamp their authority on the game from the start and maintain their intensity throughout the contest.

It’s a mindset they will be looking to replicate come Friday.

ONE TO WATCH

It’s important for Subiaco to put on scoreboard pressure to assert authority in the contest, and Hanna Dethlefsen is someone who could have an impact.

A key forward with a handy knack for taking big marks inside 50, the 21-year-old has shown signs of improvement every game.

She’s a solid set shot in front of goal and puts pressure on defenders through workrate, which will pay dividends as the season progresses.
